Phase I Project Includes 56,450 t/a of Active Pharmaceutical and Agrochemical Ingredients
Yinchuan, Ningxia – April 28, 2025 – Ningxia Yuansheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has issued an environmental assessment public notice for a major industrial project that includes the construction of 9,500 tonnes per annum (t/a) of insecticide production capacity. The development is part of a broader Phase I plan to add 56,450 t/a of capacity for agricultural active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates, reinforcing Ningxia’s role in China’s agrochemical and biopharmaceutical supply chain.
Project Overview and Environmental Objectives
The project, located in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, aims to build production infrastructure for multiple technical-grade insecticides and intermediate chemicals. The plan reflects China’s broader push to upgrade domestic manufacturing of crop protection products, ensuring both export competitiveness and food security.
The environmental impact assessment (EIA) outlines objectives including:
- Controlled emissions and waste handling through new VOC abatement systems
- Upgraded wastewater treatment units to meet Ningxia’s environmental discharge norms
- Adoption of automated systems to optimize process efficiency and reduce safety risk
Company Profile: Ningxia Yuansheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
Ningxia Yuansheng is a rising player in the agrochemical manufacturing landscape, with growing capabilities in active ingredient synthesis, biotech fermentation, and chemical intermediates. The firm services domestic distributors and exporters, especially those targeting Southeast Asia, South America, and parts of Africa.
This capacity expansion is expected to significantly strengthen its position in the global pesticide supply chain, particularly amid tightening regulations and market shifts in India and Europe.
Industry Outlook and Export Potential
China remains the world’s largest producer and exporter of pesticides and active ingredients. With rising international demand for low-residue insecticides, and regulatory scrutiny in key markets like the EU, domestic producers are ramping up investments in green chemistry and cleaner production methods.
Ningxia Yuansheng’s 9,500 t/a insecticide capacity could feed both domestic needs and international buyers, particularly as exporters face increased demand for pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, and other high-performance formulations.
