Yara Launches High-Tech Fertilizer YaraBasa TURBO in Brazil

by Mariana Costa
May 10, 2025

Innovative Fertilizer Designed to Boost Crop Productivity and Sustainability

At the 30th edition of Agrishow, Yara, a global leader in plant nutrition, unveiled its latest innovation: YaraBasa TURBO, a high-tech fertilizer formulated to optimize fertilizer application and increase crop productivity in Brazilian agriculture. This new product is an extension of the highly successful YaraBasa line, designed to meet the specific soil and crop requirements in Brazil.

Key Features of YaraBasa TURBO

YaraBasa TURBO contains a higher concentration of phosphorus, combined with soluble sulfur and potassium, providing greater efficiency and cost savings for farmers. The formulation enables the optimization of fertilizer use per hectare, helping to reduce input costs while boosting crop yields.

The new fertilizer formulation includes eight nutrients per granule, with boron concentration four times greater than other market formulations. Additionally, it contains soluble calcium, which plays a crucial role in root development and overall crop growth. This combination of nutrients results in healthier crops and a more productive harvest, particularly in the high-demand crops of Brazil, such as sugarcane, citrus, corn, coffee, and grain production.

Scientific Research and Development Backing

According to Victor Borges, Commercial Manager at Yara Brasil, YaraBasa TURBO is the result of continuous investment in research and development (R&D), carried out at Yara’s Sumaré Reference Center in São Paulo, Brazil. The company is currently conducting over 150 studies throughout Brazil in collaboration with various research institutions. These studies are aimed at advancing agronomic practices and enhancing the sustainability and operational efficiency of Brazilian farmers.

“This formulation was developed with scientific rigor and a focus on high technology to improve operational efficiency and sustainability in the field,” said Borges.

Addressing the Needs of Brazilian Agriculture

YaraBasa TURBO has been specifically formulated for use in Brazilian agriculture, addressing the unique challenges faced by farmers in the region. By providing a balanced mix of essential nutrients, it helps ensure higher crop yields, better quality crops, and improved resilience to environmental stresses. The product’s high boron content is particularly beneficial for crops such as soybeans and sugarcane, which require strong root systems for optimal growth.

“Our goal is to provide complete solutions for Brazilian farmers, combining high-performance products with agronomic expertise to support sustainable development,” said Yara.

Complementary Products at Agrishow

At Agrishow 2025, Yara also showcased other high-tech, high-performance fertilizers that offer comprehensive benefits to Brazilian farmers:

  • YaraAmplix BIOTRAC: A foliar fertilizer that combines nutrients with seaweed extract, which supports plant physiology, enhances growth, and improves productivity under abiotic stress conditions, making it a valuable tool for combating climate change impacts.
  • YaraMila COMPLEX: A balanced fertilizer with nitric and ammoniacal nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium sulfate, and essential micronutrients like iron, boron, and manganese. This formula enhances photosynthesis, reduces plant stress, and ensures efficient nutrient translocation to maximize crop yield and quality.
  • YaraLiva NITRABOR: A high-calcium fertilizer containing 100% soluble calcium and boron, helping improve flower set, fruit firmness, and rind quality, especially important for horticultural products like fruits and vegetables.

Export Dynamics and Global Reach

YaraBasa TURBO is positioned not only for the Brazilian market but also for export potential, particularly in Latin America and Southeast Asia, where similar crops and nutrient challenges are faced. With Brazil being one of the largest agricultural exporters globally, Yara’s solutions will help ensure that the country’s farmers can maintain high productivity levels while keeping input costs under control, which is crucial for remaining competitive in the global market.

The success of YaraBasa TURBO will also have a positive ripple effect on Brazilian agricultural exports, providing higher-quality produce for export markets and contributing to Brazil’s reputation as a leading agricultural powerhouse.

Sustainability in Agricultural Practices

Yara continues to be a leading partner for farmers worldwide, providing comprehensive, sustainable solutions that enable growers to meet the increasing demand for food production without compromising the environment. The introduction of YaraBasa TURBO is another step toward achieving sustainability in agriculture, as it enables farmers to optimize fertilizer use and reduce their environmental footprint.
