Project Development and Technical Enhancements
Despite initial stable trial operation, the facility encountered multiple technical disruptions by mid-2024. Malfunctions within the membrane filtration segment—primarily membrane clogging due to metallic ions, salt buildup, and high-molecular impurities in the xylose hydrolysate—forced intermittent shutdowns every eight hours for equipment cleaning.
In response, Huakang’s technical team introduced key process optimizations including:
- Granular activated carbon filtration
- Continuous ion-exchange-based decalcification
- Advanced chromatographic desalination
These measures have significantly improved system stability, allowing near-continuous production and greater energy efficiency.
Environmental & Regulatory Milestones
On March 25, 2025, the Jiaozuo Ecological Environment Bureau formally approved the project’s Environmental Impact Report and published the findings. The project is now fully compliant with updated environmental standards under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, aligning with national goals for green manufacturing.
