EU Regulation – The European Commission has officially renewed the authorization of L-cystine as a feed additive for all animal species, extending its validity until March 5, 2035. This decision, enacted through Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/272, supersedes the previous regulation (EU) No 1006/2013.
L-cystine is categorized under “nutritional additives” and specifically within the functional group of “amino acids, their salts, and analogues.” The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has affirmed that L-cystine remains safe for target animal species, consumers, and the environment. The renewal of L-cystine’s authorization by the EU not only ensures the continued safe use of this additive in animal nutrition but also reflects the dynamic growth and global integration of the L-cystine market.

From 2016 to 2024, China’s L-cystine industry experienced significant growth, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 7.3%. Projections indicate that by 2030, the market size could reach around RMB 1 billion, with the CAGR potentially increasing to about 8%.
