Ukraine’s Agricultural Export Prices Surge Amid Value-Added Focus
As of April 2025, the average price per ton of Ukrainian agricultural exports reached $443, up from $315 in 2024—a 41% year-on-year increase. According to Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, the price increase was driven by a strategic shift toward value-added exports, particularly bioethanol and processed agri-products.
Breakdown of Ukraine’s Top Agri Export Products
Ukraine’s top five agri-export products also experienced significant price hikes:
- Sunflower oil: $1,174/ton (↑37.8%)
- Corn: $217/ton (↑27.1%)
- Wheat: $231/ton (↑27.4%)
- Poultry meat: $2,385/ton (↑11.2%)
- Soybeans: $409/ton (↑4.3%)
Ukraine exported 2.5 million tons of agricultural products in early 2025, generating $1.1 billion in revenue. This represents a continued rebound for Ukraine’s agri-sector amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.
Trade Balance and Strategic Focus
From January–March 2025, Ukraine exported $9.9 billion worth of goods and imported $18.5 billion. In 2024, exports totaled $41.64 billion (+15% YoY), with $69 billion in imports (+8.6%).
Ukraine’s grain and oilseed sector, traditionally a cornerstone of its export economy, is now being bolstered by downstream industries like biofuels and poultry processing.
